Greg Halman Hurt

With the major league club already having a couple of injury issues and waiting to get their center fielder, Franklin Gutierrez, back to health, AAA Tacoma has now seen their own center fielder go down to injury.

Greg Halman sustained a cracked left wrist when he was hit by a pitch on Sunday.  Halman, who was the first of two consecutive Rainiers hit by Sacramento righty Gary Daley, stayed in the game initially, stealing a base before being lifted for utility man Leury Bonilla when the Rainiers went back out to the field after the inning.

He has yet to be officially placed on the DL, but will be travelling to Seattle to get checked out by Mariners’ doctors shortly, per Rainiers’ broadcaster Mike Curto.  It is currently expected that Halman will miss about four weeks of action.

Halman was batting .231/.286/.385, with two of his three hits being doubles.

Also coming up injured is Rainiers OF Mike Wilson, who was scratched today with a shoulder injury.  The severity and how much time Wilson will miss is currently unknown.

UPDATE: Halman is on the DL, and LHP Fabio Castro has been assigned to the team to fill his roster spot.
