Because the minor league transaction wire is rarely allowed to cool, this weekend’s list of moves just weren’t enough.
The Jackson Generals activated RHP Steven Hensley from the 7-day DL this morning and placed LHP Brian Moran on the temporary inactive list. Hensley, who was placed on the DL on April 15th with a lower back strain, started tonight’s game, tossing four scoreless innings, giving up four hits and a pair of walks while striking out two.
No reason was given for Moran’s placement on the inactive list, but he suffered about as bad a week as a reliever can have last week.
Elsewhere, the High Desert Mavericks had a trio of moves today. First, 2B Shaver Hansen was activated from the disabled list and sent down to the Clinton LumberKings, and re-assigned SS Jake Schlander to extended spring camp after he struggled his way through 11 games and 30 at-bats.
SS Anthony Phillips was summoned from Clinton to fill Schlander’s roster spot. Phillips, who actually joined High Desert on Saturday before the roster move was made today, was off to a slow start in Clinton, but has a slick glove and will likely be aksed to fill a utility role for the Mavericks.
