Jackson Generals Postponed For Today

This press release just arrived in my inbox:

Two 7-inning games scheduled for Wednesday, beginning at 11:05 AM

JACKSON, TENN. (April 25, 2011) – The scheduled game between the Jackson Generals and Mobile BayBears tonight has been postponed because of severe thunderstorms overnight, unsafe playing conditions and the impending severe weather approaching West Tennessee.

The Jackson Generals are 8-10 on the season and four games back, in fourth place in the North Division. The Mobile BayBears are 12-6, and lead the South Division by two games.

The game will be made up as part of a Wednesday doubleheader, with two seven inning games scheduled, beginning at 11:05 AM [Central Time] at Pringles Park. The pitching matchups are to be determined.

The weather around the region has been poor (at best) of late, and heavy rains yesterday morning threatened last night’s game.  There have been severe storm systems racking the entire eastern half of the country of late, and games all over the region have been effected.

The western half of the country has not been immune, either; there was a hail delay in the Rainiers game in Salt Lake City yesterday, and there have been snow flurries there all day today.  Hopefully Mother Nature relents soon and things can get back to a more normal schedule.
